Frequently Asked Questions and Answers (Q/A)

  1. Why breast augmentation and shaping, when we are mainly talking about augmentation or reduction?
  2. The enlarged breast must be aesthetically shaped in accordance with the anatomical structure of the body
  3. What does Laser¬ mean?
  4. A laser for surgical procedures is a device that produces a special light beam or a beam of monochromatic rays, of a specific wavelength, which is capable of creating an incision and coagulating blood vessels, thus creating a bloodless incision.
  5. What is laser surgery?

Laser surgery is a type of surgery that uses special light beams instead of a scalpel to create incisions and surgical procedures. The most commonly used surgical lasers are CO2 and Nd:YAG lasers.

Q: What exactly does “dual plane” mean?

A: In this case, those words indicate the position of the implant, which is behind the muscles with its upper part, while its lower part is behind the mammary gland (below the double plane).

Q: It seems vague and complicated…

A: The essence is more clearly explained with the use of cross-sectional art drawings. See the drawing below. It clearly shows which part of the implant is covered with what.

Art drawing of a dual plane breast section explains the essence of “dual plane” – a double plane
Large pectoral muscle – Pectoralis major, Sheath of the large pectoral muscle – Pectoralis Fascia

Q: Why should we still use common standard techniques?

A: Because there is no perfect technique. Each new technique described is better than the previous one and offers improvements. In particular, this one offers a better appearance and a lower likelihood of capsular contracture.

Q: So what are the advantages of this technique?

A: There are quite a few, to mention:

  1. Fewer complications, such as capsule contracture, which occurs in 1-20% of women who have breast augmentation with implants.
  2. Perfect appearance, especially visible in thin patients with very small breasts that previously represented a surgical problem. The upper pole of the implant is covered by muscles and cannot be felt under the skin. The lower sex has a very beautiful, almost natural shape due to the much better compliance of the soft tissues and, if an adequate high-profile or anatomical implant is used, it is often not possible to notice that the breasts have been enhanced.
  3. Reduced possibility of the implant descending down the chest wall over the years, as muscle and fascia hold the implant in position.
  4. The appearance of separated breasts in girls who exercise regularly is avoided, which is regular in the case of sub muscularly placed implants.
  5. There is less chance that the edge of the implant can be felt under the fingers (palpating the edge of the implant)
  6. There is no formation of folds (wrinkles) and unevenness above the upper and inner pole of the implant

Q: What are the disadvantages?

A: There is no specific disadvantage, except for the longer duration of the operation and the technically more complicated procedure that requires more experience.

Q: How long does this type of surgery take?

A: The average time for performing the operation is from 60 to 90 minutes

Q: Are drains necessary?

A: They are only needed in exceptional cases

Q: How important is meticulous surgical technique and the use of laser technology.

A: How you treat and respect tissues is of particular importance. If during the operation you move in the anatomical layers, if you work bloodlessly with the laser and prepare the tissues with laser beam and radiofrequency instead of fingers, there is a good chance that the patient will recover faster and will have minor complaints.

Q: How important is the use of new technologies and how to achieve less trauma, painlessness and faster healing?

A: Using special instruments, using laser technologies and atraumatic work techniques. Painlessness does not mean the absence of pressure and discomfort during tissue adjustment in the first days after surgery. In rare cases, there may be a feeling similar to muscle inflammation after intense training, which is corrected by oral therapy with Ibuprofen (Brufen, Advil) or Diclofenac (Diclofen).

Q: Does Laser technology and atraumatic technique and dual plane reduce discomfort after surgery

A:  Yes! Complications and revisions are extremely rare and mild, below 1%. On the other hand, among girls, the degree of satisfaction with the outcome is over 95%, which is essentially our goal.
