BREAST REDUCTION
Breast reduction is a surgical procedure which lifts pendular or sagging breasts and reduces large or too large breasts to a desired size. The method is purely surgical and the procedure lasts much longer than in case of breast augmentation. There is a variety of surgical procedures applied in various cases.
SURGERY
Nowadays, a standardised surgical procedure involves an anchor-shaped incision that circles the areola, extends downward in a vertical line, and follows the natural curve of the crease beneath the breast. The final appearance of the incision cannot be defined prior the surgery. Generally, only the vertical incision (from the areola to the breast crease) is more or less visible. One must always consider the existing (defective) condition in proportion to the possibility of having a visible scar and well-shaped breasts.
The patient remains hospitalised for 2 to 4 days. Stitches can be removed 10 days after the surgery.
Surgery is performed with general anaesthesia only.
RESULT
Results of the breast reduction are excellent from both the cosmetic and physical aspect (relief of neck and back pain).
